With half-term approaching (week commencing 14th February), vaccination centres across Hertfordshire and west Essex are running ‘Relax and Vax’ sessions to help young people who are nervous about having the vaccine to get protected.
Specially trained vaccinators will be on hand to help young people overcome worries like a fear of needles or other concerns. Friendly vaccinators will be available for a chat about the vaccine, using simple and clinically-effective relaxation techniques to help reduce tension and support them through the process.
‘Relax and Vax’ sessions are aimed at 12 to 18-year-olds for the half-term break but are open to anyone who needs extra support to get their vaccination. Children aged 12-15 need to be accompanied by a consenting parent or carer. On arrival, attendees should make staff aware if they are nervous and vaccinators will make sure that plenty of time and extra support is made available.
Relax and Vax sessions will be available at Stevenage, Watford, Letchworth, Hemel Hempstead, Harlow and Hatfield during half-term week – see the ‘walk-in’ page on the Hertfordshire and west Essex vaccination website for details of these young peoples’ sessions: https://covid.healthierfuture.org.uk/events/vaccination-walk-in-clinic-times
