During the upcoming flu season, we will have up to 20,000 patients eligible for the flu vaccine this year. We will be using a similar process to last year, which was a great success. Please note all vaccines will be delivered on site at the surgeries this year.
The dates below are allocated due to delivery of the vaccines and any further clinics are not guaranteed.
Please note that we will only be offering flu vaccines at this time
At Risk group includes
· Patients aged 65 years and older – or reaching 65 before 31st March 2022
· Patients aged 6 months – under 65 in a clinical at risk group, such as:
· Chronic (long-term) respiratory disease, such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or bronchitis
· Chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
· Chronic kidney disease at stage three, four or five
· Chronic liver disease
· Chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson’s disease or motor neurone disease,
· Learning disability
· Diabetes
· Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment
· Splenic dysfunction or asplenia
· A weakened immune system due to disease (such as HIV/AIDS) or treatment (such as cancer treatment)
· Morbidly obese (defined as BMI of 40 and above)
· All pregnant women
· Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals
· People living in long-stay residential care homes or other long-stay care facilities
· Registered carers of older or disabled persons whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill
· Locum GPs
· Health & Social Care Workers that are
o Employed by residential/nursing home
o Registered domiciliary care provider
o Voluntary managed hospice provider
· All patients aged 50 years and over – Date of birth on or before 31st March 1972 will be invited once all with underlying health conditions patients have been vaccinated
Again, this year the NHS plan to further extend the vaccine programme to include the 50-64-year old age group. We will be inviting patients who have an underlying health condition first. We ask that you please do not call to book an appointment until you have received an invitation to do so.
The following measures will be in place:
· We ask that you attend promptly at your appointment time, however, please do not arrive more than 5 minutes’ early
· Social distancing must take place at all times
· A one-way system will operate throughout each site at every clinic with marshals assisting
For a smooth running clinic, we ask that you
· Wear a face covering
· Attend on your own unless with a carer
· Please do not bring children to the surgery unless it is for their nasal flu appointment
· Do not wear long sleeves and have your arm ready prior to being called forward for your vaccination
· We are only vaccinating for flu, there will not be time for any other issues
